Chapter Nine - The Race

A/N: A shout-out to cmileyfreaky who understood the Harry Potter reference, though it wasn't a contest or anything, lol.

Akash smiled slightly to himself, while packing away for work. He had been chosen to head the UK Deal, with Khushi. He was happy, for the deal was worth millions, and it would really boost his bar up the graph. He would have a better chance at that promotion, after the deal.

However, there was one problem... Khushi.

The world of business was a cut-throat race and you had two options. Win, or die trying. Akash was no newly-wed into this race, he knew one wrong step, and Khushi would tango him right out of the business. All of Gupta Corporation knew that the big job after the UK deal had two contenders, the first being Akash and the second being Khushi. Should Akash win the deal, he would be joint CEO. Something, which he knew that Khushi would not let happen. Akash knew he was a threat to Khushi, and he knew that Khushi knew that too. This was a war, and Khushi Kumari Gupta was one hell of an opponent. Nobody liked gambling with stakes this high, least of all Akash.

Something had to be done, but what?

* * *

Anjali stepped into the room, where the next customer was waiting for her. He would be the first this morning. Sometimes Anjali wondered how people could be up for sex early in the morning. But it was not her business to wonder about people and their strangeness. The stranger the people were, the better money she got.

The customer was standing with his back to her. She quickly proceeded to step out of the clothes, when the customer turned his face towards her. She smiled when she saw his face.

Shyam Manohar Jha promptly turned a bright scarlet.

“I..”

She waited for him to elaborate.

“I... was wondering if we could...”

“Talk?” she replied with a smirk. “Sorry, but for those things, you pay a shrink, not a whore”

At that, Anjali heard the door swish open, and turned back in surprise. “Now what?” she asked a visibly frightened Lavanya, who walked in quickly. “Devyani is away... she asked me to ask you to handle everything...” Lavanya replied, dragging the half naked Anjali out of the door - Shyam clearly forgotten. Lavanya quickly entered the door next to the room Anjali had just been in, and dragged Anjali in. “What should I do?” Lavanya asked her, as Anjali gazed up at the horrific sight.

Nirmala, the new girl, had hung herself from the ceiling. Below her rotating dead body, sat a woman, fully naked – with tears streaming down her face.

* * *

Devyani looked up at the dead body rotating from the ceiling. With her eyes, she gestured Anjali to take Lavanya and the crying woman out. Anjali was quick to comply, soothing the naked woman into walking to the next empty room, motioning Lavanya to follow behind.

Devyani kept staring at the young girl. What a waste of beauty, this girl could have gone far in the field. This would be the fourth suicide this month, funny how these girls had no spine, not being able to deal with life. But this dead body would have to be fixed, or questions would be raised and the business would crumble. Devyani reached for her phone and murmured softly into it, her voice soft and her instructions clear.

Moments later, the guards entered and minutes later, the body was out of the room. It would wind up in the sea somewhere, or maybe buried. She did not know, she did not care to ask.

The way Devyani saw it, Nirmala was officially out of the race.

* * *

Anjali tiredly walked back to her room. This would be the fourth suicide of the room, and somehow or the other, the same woman always happened to be a customer. It was a curious case... she had spoken to Nirmala ten minutes ago about her job. Nirmala had not seemed suicidal. Anjali knew a suicidal whore when she saw one. Something was missing, a key point. But what?

Anjali entered her room, tired – wanting to sleep her aching head away. She tiredly closed her eyes, stopping right outside the door, before swishing the door open and stopping short. She stared, unable to believe what

“Hello” Shyam Jha said.

  1. Okay so I totally get the marathon and the sprint that every character is running here.
Aakash- I find him.. dedicated. I see a good guy in him. You know that career oriented wala, doesn't let a hot chick mess up with him except for sex? Yep.

Anjali and Lavanya- FUCK. What and who is that woman because of which the scared ones commit suicide? Or they do just because she is a woman? Gettin' my point?

Devyani- DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED.

  2. Ooh Akash vs Khushi. That's going to be good. He's going to go all in to win this one and there's no way Khushi is going to back out. WTF is going on with the suicide streak? Did that woman just sit and watch the girls hang themselves without calling for help? Did the girls know their customer was going to be a woman? Devyani is beyond belief. Is Shyam researching for a book or something? Or is it just the nerves kicking in.

  3. Okey.....who is the woman?? and can she be responsible for the 4 deaths? like a live grim reaper or something? I mean, what does she make them do that they kill themselves...or does she get a sexual thrill out of hanging them? lol..ok im gonna stop now...will wait for you to tell us all that!

Hmm...now Aaksh is one tough cookie huh? on one hand he has these feelings for Khushi...attraction i mean...and on the other hand he wants her out of the race...and he seems to be the kind who is like a ticking bomb...this will be interesting!

Lastly Shyam...what's his deal? i mean...if you have Padmalaxmi as Anjali....i'm sure he wont just want to talk right? looks like he doing some kinda research work??

Great update as always dear! Waiting for more!!

  6. OK so why the same lady visiting ending in a suicide???

One girl out of the race, and a man who wants another girl out of the race so he can win. Races galore Vee!

And when will Devyani be taught a lesson, or just get laid?? She's repulsive.

  9. Akash is all set to lock horns with Klepto. Well.....good luck to him! :P
He really seems dedicated to his job and his aims regarding the same.......I'm just contemplating on the depth he's ready to go to in order to achieve the same. Otherwise....he's a good guy. :)

The SAME woman all the four times? Why? What's the reason behind all that? :/
I HATE DEVYANI. I don't need to elaborate that. I hate her with the fire of a thousand suns.

  10. Seriously devyani is such a cold hearted B***h .... Man she is more worried about her reputaion rather than the welfare of her girls . This thing about the girls commiting suicide when the same woman is in the room is too much of a coincidence . Hope Anjali gets to bottom of this matter and finds the missing link . Watching Khushi and Aakash duel it out for supremacy in the business field is gonna be fun . Both of them are sharp and astute where business is concerned . Vee , gotta say your shyam is too cute for the words . Such an opposite to the character on the show.

  11. I am loving this...Akash and Khushi competing against each other and vying for the joint CEO position...cannot wait to read Akash's plan of action..
A fourth suicide in the presence of the same woman...something is incongruous....hope Anjali figures it out, soon...and, Devyani is so callous... it gave me the jitters....
Ah! Shyam is back..but, he seeks Anjali to talk to her...he is developing feelings for her...
    Cannot wait for the next,

  12. Wow..!Akash and Khushi as competitors..!
Akash is datermined and would probably come up with a plan..
But I think Khushi is way smarter than Akash..

    Who is new woman..?

And Shyam is back to talk..:D

    Thanks for the PM .!!

  13. aakash and Khushi competing sure is interesting.... I hope aakash knows tht Khushi is the kind who will never back out of a challenge.... I mean aakash seems like a nice hard working guy but Khushi will never give up without a fight n by a fight I mean she can kick ass
shyam makes a come back. ... as for the mystery lady who may be responsible for the suicides, I shudder to think what she made them do to push them to the point of suicide.... n devyani-I'm not sure she even qualifies as a human! !!

  14. Vee...this is some world you are spinning.. makes it more interesting with each chapter.. each of the characters seem to be telling a story of their own. One which they want the world to know and one which is the truth. Makes it plausible. Akash with his insecurities makes an interesting character.. Payal with the whole "anamika" thing going on makes me curious.. what is she? khushi's sister?appointed guardian? is khushi the "chosen one"? :P

with this chapter who gave a whole new dimension to Devyani's whore house.. She is a lesbian? that was surpirsing! But is it because she never felt she was attractive enough for a man?

Also, if Anjali has been there for long and knows what things happen there, why was she horrified to catch them in the act? I can understand Lavanya's reaction to a certain extent. But why was Anjali horrified? One would think that she must have been used to this kind of scene.

Who is that naked lady and why was she sitting under the body? Is she someone who convinces these whores to kill themselves? If that has been happening why is she allowed in there?

  18. great update
but who is this woman that seems to make the girls commit suicide
or is it the fact that she is a woman, as devyani does the same
and oo competition between akaash and khushi, may the stronger competitor win

    ReplyDelete
  19. That's so horrible, she actually committed suicide and that happens a lot yet nothing is done :(

OO Akash and Khushi in competition!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yikes... that was creepy! Suicide because of the same woman... what is behind that!I am really waiting to hear Shyam and Anjali's conversation. That is bound to be interesting! Ooh Akash really has to be on his toes around Khushi! She is one unpredictable female!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Akash is over ambitious, and he is definately a big threat to Khushi. I mean a highly over ambitious man is never good a company, unless he is the ceo or owns the company. He can be traitor if it serves his interest, maybe I'm thinking too much on this lines. Anyways, he has the right to take care of his interests, in what way he does it would be interesting to read.

Why does Shyam always keeps on antagonizing and irritates the hell out of her. If there is something, then get over and done with it. A woman has commited suicide on the next door and he still on I-wanna- talk mood resuming with the hello.
